6.3 Drift Effects

Either of the classes of systematic error above may be subject to drift, that is to say, the multiplicative of additive adjustment involved may change with time. The polarimetry experiments presented here have been protected against anomalous results due to drift by careful choice of the order in which measurements are made to ensure that drift effects naturally cancel in the data processing.
